Plate LXV represents the central court of the Dioscuri, which may be termed the court of the piscina. The spectator stands in the exedra ; and the opening of that apartment being so large, with the piscina so near as to subtend a large angle, the open sky and the reflection from the water must have rendered it one of the most cheerful rooms at Pompeii.

The picture of Perseus and Andromeda on the left, which is most beautiful, and that of Medea on the right, have a good effect. The court, altogether, is very spacious, and not without an air of grandeur ; and the walls are brilliant in colours, and decorated with well-executed paintings.
